Randy Au cofounded Tip Of The Spear in 2010 when it dawned on him that many Americans want to support deployed members of our military, but don’t have an easy way to do it. Creating a structure that is highly responsive, efficient and 100% volunteer are also key factors to him.

Randy spent over 28 years serving America as a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service. He closed his career as the Special Agent in Charge of the George HW Bush Protective Division in Houston, Texas and Kennebunkport, Maine. He is now Director of Security and Safety for Pearl Brewery in San Antonio, Texas.

Randy’s wife Melissa and their two daughters have been huge supporters of Tip Of The Spear, often assisting in packing and labeling boxes headed for Afghanistan and other hostile places where our troops are sent.

Michelle has been a resident of Sugar Land, Texas for 17 years. Though she is originally from Spokane, Washington, her husband Brad (a native Texan) likes to say she got here as fast as she could. Together they have three boys and two girls. Michelle’s son, Garrett Gamble, was a Lance Corporal in the United States More>>>

Mary is proud to be a Native Texan, Born and raised in South Texas. After 36 years of service, Mary retired from the Public Schools System. Mary and her husband, Dale, are the proud parents of a decorated combat veteran, Kevin (KC) Williams. KC earned the Purple Heart during his 2nd deployment to Afghanistan. Though KC is no longer an Active Duty Marine, Mary and Dale continue to volunteer and support our troops serving in harm’s way. It is an honor and a pleasure to serve our military on their long, dangerous deployments and to let them know that people at home appreciate the sacrifices they make for us every day!

Kirk and his wife, Kim, began involvement with Tip of the Spear through one of the “Boots on the Ground” organizations in 2010.  Kirk was a Submarine Sonarman during his time in the Navy and his son is a 4th generation sailor, so commitment runs deep in the family.  Kirk understands the term “isolation duty” and wants to support the men and women at the tip of the spear in harms way.  Their business serves as a one of the goods storage and packing locations for a Tip of the Spear Boots on the Ground operations in the Houston, Texas area.  In 2018, Kirk was asked to join the Board of Directors and assist in the planning and execution of the Tip of the Spear mission.

Tip Of The Spear has minimal overhead and/or administrative costs. We are a 100% volunteer effort. We do not have any staff salaries, nor do we pay stipends or compensation of any kind to our board members. We do not have a physical plant of any type. Our donation and support model makes it unnecessary for us to maintain any type of warehouse. We feel we owe this level of dedication and efficiency to our military heroes deployed at the “Tip Of The Spear.”
